Recently, a Pakistani drama group has been making waves by staging an adaptation of the Indian Epic in Karachi city of Pakistan's Sindh province. The Pakistani theatre artistes have been winning hearts for their efforts to bring the epic to life by using AI enhancements. But this is not the first time Ramayana has been staged in Pakistan. The hype around Namit Malhotra and Nitesh Tiwari's magnum opus Ramayana, starring Ranbir Kapoor, Sunny Deol, Yash, Ravi Dubey and Sai Pallavi in key roles, has been significant. Ramayana is the most revered and influential Indian epic that has a profound impact on Indian culture, literature and art. 

Well, recently, a Pakistani drama group has been making waves by staging an adaptation of the Indian Epic in Karachi city of Pakistan's Sindh province. The Pakistani theatre artistes have been winning hearts for their efforts to bring the epic to life by using AI enhancements. But this is not the first time Ramayana has been staged in Pakistan. Here we bring an old video of Ramleela showcased in Karachi.

Ramayana Adaptation Staged in Pakistan!

Reportedly, Pakistani theatrical group 'Mauj' staged the Ramayana, depicting the triumph of good over evil, at the Karachi Arts Council over the weekend. The group incorporated AI technology to enhance their portrayal of the epic.

As reported by PTI, director Yoheshwar Karera expressed confidence about staging the Indian epic. He also stated that he never anticipated negative reactions or security concerns.

He also added that the drama had been well received, with many critics appreciating the efforts put into production and the performances of the actors.

Yoheshwar said, "To me, bringing the Ramayana to life on stage is a visual treat and shows the Pakistani society is more tolerant than it is often given credit for."

Further, critic Omair Alavi praised the authentic storytelling approach of the production. He noted that the lighting effects, live musical score, vibrant costumes and set design added to the production's grandeur.

The critic added, "The narrative is top class as Ramayana is a story that resonates with millions around the world."

Producer Rana Kazmi, who also essayed Sita in the drama, said that she was intrigued by the idea of bringing the ancient tale as a living, breathing experience for the audience.

Well, this is not the first time that the Ramayana was staged in Karachi. An old video is doing the rounds on social media that gives glimpses into Ramleela showcased in Karachi, a few years back.

The event organised at Swami Narayan Temple was captured by BBC News Hindi. The enthusiastic audience can be heard cheering aloud at the crowded venue.
