'Sun Candle' is an unusual atmospheric phenomenon and it occurs when the sunlight interacts with tiny, flat ice crystals in the atmosphere. It gets the name 'Sun Candle' as the shape of the large and bright beam of light is similar to a candle flame.
It typically occurs in cirrus clouds or ice fog when the sun is above the clouds. Each ice flake acts as a tiny mirror which creates an optical illusion. This rare phenomenon is often visible from high altitudes such as mountain peaks or aeroplanes.
The atmospheric condition needs to be perfect for the rare phenomenon to happen. The sunlight must be reflected at the right angle by the crystals to form a vertical beam of light. Such rare optical illusions are similar to sun pillars. The rare phenomenon is visible during sunrise or sunset right below the sun when it is low on the horizon.
Since shared, the video has gone viral on social media leaving the netizens amazed. Indeed, the rare phenomenon appears to be far from reality and it is likely for any viewer to be amazed. The video is shared on social media by Viral Hog and has gone wildly viral amassing massive views and likes.
