Passenger complaints about 'obscene and vulgar ads' during train ticket booking, IRCTC's reply is shocking

Have you encountered any awkward moments while visiting any website? Obscene and vulgar ads are likely to pop up on some websites. What if it is a government site? Recently, a passenger encountered an embarrassing situation after he raised complaints about encountering an awkward moment while booking a train ticket on the IRCTC app.

A person took to social media and shared two screenshots of the awkward moment he encountered while booking the train tickets. He wrote, "Obscene and vulgar ads are very frequently appearing on the IRCTC ticket booking app. This is very embarrassing and irritating." (sic)

He tagged the official social media handles of the Rail Ministry, IRCTC and Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal and requested to look into the matter. The snapshots included in the post are blurry but one can easily see the vulgar pictures.

The person encountered such a moment while booking a ticket for Farakka Express.

Certainly, anyone would get embarrassed in such circumstances. However, this post triggered an IRCRC Official who replied to the complaint made on social media.

The response to the post read, "Irctc uses Google ad serving tool ADX for serving ads. These ads uses cookies to target the user. Based on user history and browsing behaviour ads are shown. Pl clean and delete your browser cookies and history to avoid such ads-IRCTC Official." (sic)
