'Woh Stree Hai...' Netizens celebrate International Women's Day with old video of schoolgirl lifting auto-rickshaw to save mom, watch
March 8 is observed as International Women's Day every year, across the globe, to honour women's achievements. Despite facing numerous obstacles and challenges, women have broken down barriers and achieved remarkable success. Well, social media is flooded with wishes for International Women's Day. People are sharing heartfelt messages and quotes to celebrate the strength, resilience and achievements of women. Amid this, netizens celebrated the day with an old video that shows a schoolgirl lifting an auto-rickshaw to save her mother and others.
Last year in September 2024, a video of the schoolgirl surfaced that captured her brave act stormed the internet. According to the reports, an auto-rickshaw coming at a high speed from Katil towards Kinnigoli collided with a woman, who was crossing the road. After hitting, the auto-rickshaw overturned and the woman got trapped under the vehicle. Suddenly, the 13-year-old schoolgirl Vaibhavi, hailing from Mangaluru, Karnataka, rushed to the spot and lifted the auto-rickshaw to rescue her mother.
Reportedly, the woman identified as Chetana, aged 35, is a resident of Rajaratnapura. She does pygmy collection for a living. Chetana was crossing the road to pick up her daughter Vaibhavi, the seventh-grade schoolgirl, after tuition.
However, while Chetana crossing the road, the auto-rickshaw suddenly approached at a high speed. To avoid hitting the woman, the auto driver turned the vehicle to the roadside. However, he lost control of the vehicle and it overturned trapping the woman under it.
Vaibhavi, who was waiting on the roadside for her mother, was traumatized at the moment. However, she instantly gathered courage and rushed towards the auto-rickshaw. She lifted the auto-rickshaw bravely and rescued her mother. She didn't just save her mother, the auto driver and a passenger were also rescued. While Chetana suffered major injuries, the driver and the passenger had some minor injuries.
For her act of bravery, Vaibhavi was felicitated by the Police Commissioner.
Sharing the video on X, a user wrote, "Woh Stree hai- Kuch bhi kar sakti hai' and extended wishes for International Women's Day. Several other users also shared similar thoughts. Though an old video, it has resurfaced on social media on International Women's Day. Netizens have showered praises on the schoolgirl for her act of bravery.
