In a dramatic incident which resembles the plot of Sonam Kapoor's movie - ‘Dolly ki Doli’, a newly-married bride decamped with all cash, jewellery, and other valuables after drugging the groom and his family members on board Jaipur-bound Marudhar Express train.

According to a Live Hindustan report, the wedding of Ankit Maheshwari, a resident of Rajasthan’s Ajmer, was fixed with Gudia Yadav of Uttar Pradesh’s Gorakhpur on February 5.

Reportedly, the groom had come with his family and got married to Gudiya as per ritual and tradition at the latter’s acquaintance Chand’s home in Matiyara village in Balua area of Chandauli district of Uttar Pradesh. The date for the farewell of the bride and groom was fixed on February 6.

On February 6, the newlywed couple with the groom’s family members and bride’s relative Nagina left for Varanasi where they also visited many places during sightseeing before boarding the train for Ajmer from Varanasi Railway station.

Later, the bride’s other acquaintance Chhotu Khatkana also joined them on their journey. After boarding the train, Chhotu who had brought dry fruits and tea laced with intoxicants in separate packets, served them to the groom and his family members. When they fell unconscious, Gudia, Nagina, and Chhotu collected all the cash, jewellery and other valuables and got down from the train at Kanpur Central railway station.

Later, when Ankit and his family members regained consciousness they were shocked to find the bride and acquaintances had fled after decamping with all their money and jewellery.

Feeling deceived and cheated, he registered a complaint against her with the GRP in Etawah. The GRP immediately swung into action for an inquiry into the matter.

According to police, this was the second marriage of the bride. Earlier, she had cheated another man in a similar fashion.

Reportedly, after deboarding the train, Gudia, Nagina, and Chhotu went to Prayagraj by bus from where they headed to Varanasi. Later, Gudiya and Nagina were nabbed by GRP at Varanasi station when they were trying to go to Gorakhpur.

Meanwhile, police are trying to nab others involved in their gang.
