While the Holy Shravan month began on July 4, kanwariyas from across the country throng Shiva Shrines to offer their obeisance and pour water on the Shiva Lingas at various temples on July 10- first Shravan Somwar (Monday).

As part of the annual kanwariya yatra, the saffron-clad kanwariyas collect water from different rivers and walk miles by holding the Bahungis (slings each with two water-full pots hanging on both sides) and chanting ‘Bol Bom, Hare Hare Bom’ to reach Shiva shrines.

Once they reach their destination, they pour the holy water on Shiva Lingas which marks an end to their yatra.

As the kanwariyas walk miles to reach their destinations, many Samaritans set up camps to provide necessary help including food, water and first aid to the devotees.

Recently, a video of Saharanpur district magistrate Dinesh Chandra surfaced on the internet in which he can be seen baking roti for the Kanwariyas at a camp in Uttar Pradesh.

According to reports, Chandra paid a surprise visit to take stock of the arrangements made for the Kanwariyas at the camps on Sunday night. After reviewing the arrangement, he baked roti and served it to the devotees.

The video showcasing the kind gesture of the Saharanpur district magistrate is now going viral on various social media platforms and people are praising him for his selfless act.
