Jumbo Tax! Elephant and its calf collect ‘toll’ from truck; watch

Elephants are gentle giants. However, the first sight of these majestic animals in the wild could leave anyone scared. As animal behaviour is unpredictable, getting close to these giants might be concerning.

If you love exploring the wild or have ever travelled through any forest, you must have come across elephants straying on the road. How would a person react when one of these giants walks closer to them? The consequences of such a confrontation could be anything.

However, here we bring a video that shows an elephant and its calf ‘collecting toll’ from a truck to offer a ‘safe passage’.

Well, though not really, in the video the helper of the truck can be seen throwing away bundles of sugarcane to the ground after the elephant and its calf blocked the path of the vehicle. The pachyderms can be seen standing exactly in front of the truck while the helper throws the bundles to the roadside.

At first, the calf walks toward the sugarcane while its mother continues to block the truck’s path. However, after picking up sugarcane from the ground, the gentle giant walks to the roadside and enjoys munching sugarcane with its calf.

Indeed, such a sight is quite common in wild areas and vehicles stop to ‘pay tax’ to the jumbos for safe passage in their habitat.

Sharing the video on Twitter, Indian Forest Service (IFS) official Susanta Nanda wrote, ‘Jungle Tax.’ Meanwhile, the video has gone viral on social media with netizens sharing funny and heartening comments.
