Screengrabs from the viral video
A chilling video showing a man lying motionless while a massive king cobra crawls across his bed has exploded online, sparking shock and debate.
The footage, shared by forester Susanta Nanda on X (formerly Twitter), reportedly comes from a home in Uttarakhand and captures an intensely dangerous encounter.
In the video, one of the world's most venomous snakes, a large king cobra, slowly glides over a man's legs as he lies on a bed.
A king cobra trying to squeeze in the bed. Said to be from Uttarakhand, the boy is extremely lucky & handled the situation calmly. The moment it felt threatened at the end when the boy moved away, just look how it reacts with its hood.

Remarkably, the man remains completely still and calm, silently filming the reptile, showing no sign of panic or attempt to flee, apparently aware that sudden movement could provoke an attack.
The tension peaks dramatically as the cobra inches towards the man's head and makes direct eye contact. Only then does the man react, suddenly bolting upright in panic and scrambling off the bed.
Throughout the entire encounter, the cobra itself remained eerily calm and still, showing no overt aggression.

The video has ignited fierce online discussion. Many viewers praised the man's composure, arguing that staying perfectly still likely prevented the snake from feeling threatened and striking.
Comments like ‘cameraman never dies’ and applause for his nerve flooded social media.

However, others strongly criticised his actions as dangerously reckless. They questioned why he prioritised filming over immediate escape from a lethal threat. "This is not bravery, it’s foolishness," wrote one viewer.
Others declared they would have instantly "jumped out of the window". Some even speculated if the cobra was a pet, though this remains unconfirmed. The authenticity and exact date of the incident are also unverified.
Nanda, in his caption, also urged viewers to “be cautious during rainy season,” as this is the time when giant reptiles seek drier areas of people’s homes for comfort as their regular habitats get flooded.
