Gurugram turns into India’s Venice; woman hilariously compares drain water with Bollywood
Heavy rainfall in Delhi has turned Gurugram into modern-day Venice, with massive waterlogging everywhere. Netizens have to literally wade through waist-deep water to go to office with houses being underwater.
The waterlogging was so bad that #Gurugram has been trending on social media X (formerly known as Twitter). Amidst several pictures and videos of flooded roads and houses, a particular video of a woman hilariously trolling the administration and comparing drain water to Bollywood has gained more traction.
The woman identified as Anu Lall is seen in knee-deep water, in a posh area of Gurugram, self-recording the situation on her mobile. She begins the video and says, “My family makes a lot of fun of me. They say tum dream girl toh nahin ban payi, but drain girl zaroor ban gayi ho.”

𝐈𝐭𝐬 𝐚𝐥𝐥 𝐚𝐛𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐜𝐨𝐫𝐫𝐮𝐩𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧. I am not a flood expert, just a "bhukt-bhogi" whose neighborhood gets flooded every year. Is the administration listening?

“Bollywood has taught us Nadiya se Dariya, Dariya se Sagar, Sagar Se Gehra… But Sagar (Ocean) se toh gehri Corruption hain yahan. Our Metropolitan Commissioners and Engineers need to remember that Road road hoti hai, Drain drain hoti hai. You can’t mix the two, else this happens,” she hilariously adds.
She continues, “Next sewage water, storm water drains are separate, so don’t mix them. Now, every city has a natural incline; water flows from top to down; but our town-country planners have forgotten this principle. Again Bollywood says, taal mile nadi ke jal mein, nadi mile saagar mein, so if we come in the way of water, this is what happens. Paani apna rashta bana hi lega, because water hasn’t taken money from the builders, that our administration has taken; Water also has memory, only our administration doesn’t have memory. They can at least think of making recharge wells.”
“Even a normal plumber can teach our administration a lot of things that when you make a drain, it has to connect to somewhere. Now, who is responsible for this total condition of the city. We pay road tax, but our administration has turn deaf. So agle saal phir milenge,” she added.
