From what looks like a scene right out of a movie script, a groom in Bihar called off his wedding mid-way during rituals and expressed his love for the bride’s sister.

According to India Today report, the incident took place in Bihar’s Saran. The groom's decision left the guests in a state of shock as she threatened to kill herself if he got married to her sister.

Reportedly, the groom, a resident of Chhapra, was all set marry to a girl from Saran on May 2.

The marriage procession was going on smoothly as per customs and traditions until the groom got a call from the bride's sister, who threatened to jump off a building if the marriage continued.

Following which, the groom abruptly stopped the wedding and left the bride on mandap after the jaimala ceremony.

The groom then informed both the families that he has been romantically involved with the bride's sister and both of them are fond of each other. After the groom’s startling revelation, both the families were shocked and later had an intense argument, which lead to a scuffle between them.

Some villagers present as guests at the wedding informed the police when the matter escalated.

Manjhi police station officials reached the venue and pacified the situation. After police intervention, both families agreed to sit down and come out with a solution to the problem.

The groom revealed that he knew the bride’s sister before his wedding was fixed with the bride.

Reportedly, the bride’s sister who had her intermediate exam at a college in Chhapra, would visit the city often and meet the groom, there.

The two came close and got into a relationship during those meetings. They would also talk on calls for long hours before they confessed to having fallen in love with each other. The idea of the groom getting married to his sister disturbed the girl so much that she decided to either stop the wedding or kill herself.

After hearing the entire matter and considering all perspectives, the families decided to get groom married to bride’s sister.
