Groom cancels marriage midway after getting call from bride’s lover on wedding stage

In a shocking incident in Uttar Pradesh’s Siddharthnagar, a groom called off his wedding midway when rituals were underway after he came to know about the bride’s affair with another man. 

According to an Amar Ujala report, tension ran high at the wedding venue as the groom cancelled the marriage abruptly after he got an abusive and threatening call from the bride’s lover.  

Reportedly, the bride’s alleged lover sent some photos and videos to the groom from an unknown number prompting the groom to abandon the wedding.

As per Amar Ujala's report, the wedding of a girl from a village in Siddharthnagar district was fixed with a youth on 28 May. On the scheduled date, the groom arrived at the bride's home and the wedding rituals were going ahead smoothly till the groom got a call shortly after the jaimala ceremony.

The caller abused the groom and said – “The one you are marrying is ours. If not sure, then photo and video have been sent, see.”

Then groom inquired about the matter and got off the stage after seeing the video and photos.

Later, someone informed the matter to the police by dialing 112. The police team of Dial 112 also reached the spot.

The police, the village head and some prominent people of the village and relatives started convincing the bridegroom not to cancel the marriage. But the groom was adamant about his decision and left the venue with his baraat despite the bride's family's repeated requests.

Reportedly, the bride’s father had registered a case against the person who obstructed the marriage. 

Meanwhile, the alleged lover who sent the video and photo was caught.

CO Garvit Singh told Amar Ujala that on the complaint of the bride's father, a case is being registered against the person who obstructed the marriage. Action will be taken after investigating the matter.
