What if your traffic post ahead starts flashing red-hearts? Well the commuters in Bengaluru were left shocked after finding heart-shaped symbols appearing in several traffic signals.

The incident immediately caught the attention of several commuters as all of us are accustomed to stop at the traffic signal on seeing the red-light which is usually flashes red light like a circle. The new heart-shaped signal was unique and came as a pleasant surprise for several commuters.

What the heart-shaped red lights mean

As per reports, the heart-shaped red lights were installed by Manipal hospitals in association with Bengaluru traffic police and the civic body. The main objective was to commemorate World Heart Day. The hospital installed innovations to encourage Bangalore to be a 'heart smart city'.

More about the initiative

The red signal being in the shape of a heart also included audio messages to create awareness on heart health. It also had QR codes near traffic signals to access emergency services easily instead of dialing a number to call for it.
