'Drunk' lady cop in Bengal goes berserk on street, netizens express concerns

Police are responsible for maintaining law and order in a city. They also play a pivotal role in protecting public and citizens' rights. Some responsible officials responsibly carry out their duties and win the hearts of the public. Unfortunately, there are a few cops who misuse their power, break the law and create panic among the public. Recently, a video surfaced on the internet that shows a 'drunk' lady cop 'hugging and kissing' a woman on her lips in full public glare.

The video shows a few cops, including the lady cop, standing near a police van. The lady cop is seen engaged in a conversation with a woman.

Several others can be seen nearby. Suddenly, the lady cop in uniform steps ahead and hugs the woman. Surprisingly, she plants a kiss on the woman's lips. The woman, shocked by this behaviour, instantly steps back and starts charging the lady cop. However, she seems to be least bothered.

Such an act of the lady cop fuelled rage among the people present there. While the lady cop was walking back to the van, a man instantly grabbed her arms and pulled back. The enraged public was not ready to leave the cop.

As claimed, the video was captured in West Bengal's Siliguri, which is evident from the patrolling van. The lady cop identified as ASI Tanya Roy was reportedly suspended after a complaint was filed against her. Earlier, multiple complaints had been lodged against her for being drunk while on duty.

The video is shared on X (formerly Twitter) by Krishanu Singha with an elaborated description of the incident.
