Couple who kissed for 58 hours separate after 10 years
A Thai couple, who once held the Guinness World Record for the longest kiss at 58 hours and 35 minutes, has reportedly parted ways after a decade. The news, which went viral in no time, sparked a wave of reactions online.
As per online reports, the couple, Ekkachai and Laksana Tiranarat, once hailed as symbols of enduring love, announced their separation in a recent BBC podcast, leaving many heartbroken.
In 2013, the couple captivated global audiences by locking lips nonstop for over two days, surpassing their own 2011 record of 46 hours.

To obtain the Guinness World Record, they were required to stand, kiss continuously, and even share water without breaking contact. Additionally, sleep was forbidden, and bathroom breaks were timed. Eventually, they succeeded and the feat earned them 100,000 Thai Baht (approximately Rs 2.34 lakh) and two diamond rings.

Despite their extraordinary bond, the couple grew apart, citing no specific reasons. “We cherish the memories but are moving forward separately,” Ekkachai said in the podcast.
Fans flooded social media, with one user quipping, “If a 58-hour kiss couldn’t save their love, what chance do we have?” Others lamented with comments like “Love is officially dead” and “I guess I am single for life then”.

Though their relationship ended, their legacy as record-holders remains untouched. Meanwhile, Guinness has since retired its ‘longest kiss’ category, replacing it with ‘kissing marathons,’ citing difficulties in the earlier record.
