Convinced by ChatGPT, woman divorces husband of over 12 years; alleges adultery

A woman has initiated divorce proceedings against her husband after 12 years of marriage, alleging infidelity uncovered by ChatGPT’s interpretation of coffee cup grounds.

The mother of two claims the AI chatbot identified a “mysterious woman” with the initial “E” as her husband’s “destined partner,” prompting her to take legal action.

Modern Twist on Ancient Practice

The Greek woman employed tasseography, a traditional fortune-telling method analysing coffee residue, but with a digital twist.

She uploaded images of her and her husband’s coffee cups to ChatGPT, seeking insights into their marriage. The AI then reportedly warned of betrayal, accusing her spouse of involvement with a younger woman intent on dismantling their family.

Husband Denies Claims, Cites Wife’s Mystical History

The husband dismissed the allegations as baseless, attributing the split to his wife’s fixation on viral trends. He revealed she had previously relied on astrological predictions for nearly a year. 

“She asked me to leave, informed our children about the divorce, and served papers within three days,” he stated, expressing shock at the abrupt escalation.
Legal Experts Reject AI ‘Evidence’

His lawyer emphasised that AI-generated interpretations hold no legal weight in adultery cases. 

“Innocence prevails without concrete proof,” the counsel asserted, highlighting that Greek courts require substantiated evidence, not algorithmic speculation. Legal analysts concur, noting such claims lack judicial standing.
