Bride cancels marriage after learning groom’s affair from his lover on wedding day

A bride in Punjab called off her marriage after she found out about the groom's affair with another woman on their wedding day. 

According to a Zee News Hindi report , tension ran high at the wedding venue when a woman claiming to be the groom’s lover reached the venue with police. 

The woman, a native of Patiala and mother of two, accused the groom, a resident of Sirhind, of cheating.

She also revealed that they had been living together for the past eight years and he had proposed to marry her. However, she had no knowledge that he cheated on her and had come to marry another girl.

“I have already filed for divorce with my husband and had been living with him (the groom) since long. He shared a cordial relationship with my children. However, he didn’t tell me about his wedding plans,” said the woman.

Police have reportedly taken the accused groom to Mataur police station for investigation.

On the other hand, the groom has denied the charges against him and admitted that he was in a relationship but claimed he was cheated by the woman.

He said that he wanted to marry her, but the woman had kept her marital status hidden from him and was not divorced. 

“She didn’t tell me that she hasn’t divorced her husband yet. She lied to me and thus I decided to get married to someone else,” he told the police.

Meanwhile, the bride’s family after cancelling the wedding has asked the groom to bear the expenses of the arrangements.
