In an astonishing act of courage, a mother in Bahraich, Uttar Pradesh, risked her life to save her five-year-old son from the jaws of a crocodile. The terrifying incident unfolded on Monday evening in Dhakia village, leaving locals stunned by her sheer bravery.

The Attack

A Battle of Survival

Eyewitnesses described a five-minute struggle that felt like an eternity. Maya fearlessly leapt into the water, grabbing the reptile with her bare hands and striking it repeatedly. “I screamed and, without thinking about my life, I jumped in,” she recalled. “I hit it, clawed at it, and refused to let go. Finally, after I struck it with an iron rod, it released my son.”

Aftermath and Rescue Efforts

Both mother and child suffered injuries. Maya was treated for bruises and discharged, while Veeru remains under medical care for more serious wounds.

Local authorities were immediately informed by the former village head, Rajkumar Singh. A team led by Divisional Forest Officer Ram Singh Yadav and SDO Rashid Jameel visited the site and met the family, assuring them that a special operation will be launched to locate and capture the crocodile.

Maya’s incredible bravery has turned her into a local hero, her fearless actions saving her young son’s life.
