baby elephant enjoying bath
In a delightful scene that has captured the hearts of netizens, an elephant named Hom Nuan was filmed enjoying a blissful solo swim in a flowing river all while trying to coax her friends to join in the fun.
The video, shared by Lek Chailert, founder of the Save Elephant Foundation, quickly went viral, amassing over 36,000 views and a flood of affectionate comments.
The clip shows Hom Nuan wading and splashing with pure joy. But her merriment was tinged with longing her companions, Aung Kham and Rattana Kham, stood on the shore, refusing to get in. Determined to share the joy, Hom Nuan began trumpeting loudly, her high-pitched calls carrying across the water.
As Chailert explained in the caption, “Hom Nuan went swimming, but her two elephant friends refused to join her. So, she used her soprano trumpeting to get their attention calling out with joy, letting them know how much fun she was having, and inviting them to join her in the water.”
Viewers were charmed by the display, with many noting how emotional and intelligent elephants can be. One user wrote, “This made my day. The sound of her call is so beautiful.” Another added, “She just wanted her friends to have fun with her, so touching.” Others likened her calls to singing, calling the moment “mesmerising” and “soothing.”
Though her friends stayed dry, Hom Nuan’s infectious enthusiasm turned a simple river swim into a heartwarming reminder of the joy and bonds shared by these gentle giants.
