16-year-old girl dragged by hair for refusing marriage proposal, 1 held after video goes viral

In a shocking incident, a 16-year-old girl was allegedly attacked with a sharp weapon and dragged on roads for reportedly rejecting a marriage proposal. The incident has been reported from Gudhiyari area of Chhattisgarh's Raipur on Sunday.

According to sources, the police have arrested one person in connection with the case after the video of the macabre act went viral on various social media platforms.

In the viral video, a middle-aged man can be seen dragging the minor girl having multiple injuries by her hair while holding a sharp weapon in his hand.

According to media reports, the victim was working at the shop of the accused identified as Omkar Tiwari alias Manoj (47). 

According to a national news agency, Tiwari had proposed to marry the minor girl but the proposal was turned down by the victim’s mother.

In a fit of rage, the accused attacked the minor girl with a sharp weapon and dragged her on the streets.

The condition of the victim is stated to be critical, sources in the police informed.
