Utkal Divas Celebrations Across Odisha In Lens

Bhubaneswar: While the State Government has banned large congregations for observance of Utkal Divas and associated cultural programmes throughout Odisha, the statehood day was celebrated in a very subdued manner on Thursday.

CM Naveen Patnaik today unveiled the life-size bronze statue of Utkalmani Pandit Gopabandhu Das at Cantonment Road in Cuttack on the occasion of Utkal Divas. The statues will be known as ‘Manabikata ra Pratimurti’ or the ‘Statue Of Humanity’.

The CM also inaugurated a mural sculpture of Mahatma Gandhi at Bellview Square in the millennium city on the day to commemorate the 100th year of the visit of the father of nation to the city.

A special event was organised by the Sundargarh district information and public relations department at RMC conference hall in Rourkela on Utkal Divas today. Minister Energy and MSME Minister Capt Dibya Shankar Mishra graced the occasion as chief guest. The event was also attended by Rourkela MLA Sarada Prasad Nayak and ADM Aboli Naravane.

Leaders and workers of BJD and BJP paid floral tributes to Utkalamani Gopabandhu Das and other leaders who played major role in the revolution for the separate identity of the State.

Utkal Divas was also celebrated in Angul in the presence of district Collector Basanti Kisan at the district headquarters.
