Pune: Emphasising on the growing importance of regional parties, former Prime Minister and president of Janata Dal (Secular) H D Devegowda on Sunday alleged UPA government of demoralising them.

Appealing people not to vote `fundamentalist` parties, Devegowda said credibility of every political leader has come under cloud in the backdrop of instances of corruption.

Without taking names, the JD(S) chief said political parties could not contest polls on money factor and lure voters by distributing television sets among other gadgets to them.

The former prime minister was in Pune to attend state convention of JD(S) workers.
