Bhubaneswar: Two persons have been detained today for hurling bombs at Bharatiya Janata Party's (BJP) office in Bhubaneswar.

According to sources, the accused allegedly abused the security guard deployed at the party's office and hurled bombs.

Splinters & stones from the exploded bombs have been recovered from the spot.

"I heard the blast while I was sitting inside the office. After coming out I saw two men-one at the gate and the other was about to hurl a bomb. Then I returned back inside the office and heard another loud blast," said an eyewitness.

"Some anti-social persons could be behind the incident. The State government and the CM, who is the Home Minister, need to conduct an inquiry and ensure strict punishment to the accused," President of the BJP's Odisha unit, Basant Panda said.

"Two persons came on a motorcycle and threw some crackers near the office. We have detained both of them, who have been identified as Pinak Mohanty & Biswajit Mallick," said Bhubaneswar DCP, Anup Sahoo.

Meanwhile, Kharavelnagar police has begun a probe into the case.
