In a shocking incident, chaos erupted during a wedding ceremony when the bride's family forcibly tried to take her away from the venue by allegedly throwing chilli powder in an attempt to deter those intervening.

According to reports, the bride’s family tried to abduct her from wedding venue after she married her lover. The incident reportedly took place in Kadiam area of  east Godavari district in Andhra Pradesh, reported India Today.

As per reports, the bride, Sneha, was marrying Battina Venkatanandu. However, their joyous occasion was spoiled when Sneha's family stormed the venue, attacked the guests and attempted to abduct her.

However, the kidnapping attempt was thwarted by the groom, his family and friends. One of the groom's friends sustained severe injuries during the commotion.

Reportedly, the whole incident was caught on camera. In the video, the bride Sneha's mother, brother, and cousins forcefully dragged her away from the venue as she struggled and tried to fight back.

Meanwhile, the groom’s family lodged complaint against Sneha's family under various charges including assault, attempted kidnapping, and gold theft.

Kadiam Circle Inspector B Thulasidhar revealed  that criminal charges have been filed by Veerababu's family against Sneha's family, reported India Today.

Further investigation into the matter is underway.
