Tejasvi Surya marries Carnatic Singer Sivasri Skandaprasad
BJP MP and Yuva Morcha President Tejasvi Surya tied the knot with Carnatic singer and Bharatanatyam dancer Sivasri Skandaprasad in an intimate wedding ceremony at a private resort in Bengaluru. The event was attended by close family members and political dignitaries.
The wedding festivities began with pre-wedding rituals on March 5, followed by the "mangalyadharana" ritual held on March 6 during the auspicious 'Tula Lagna' period. A reception is scheduled for March 9 at Gayathri Vihar in Palace Grounds, Bengaluru, with prominent political figures, including Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Deputy CM D.K. Shivakumar, expected to attend.
Sivasri Skandaprasad, born on August 1, 1996, in Chennai, Tamil Nadu , hails from a distinguished lineage of musicians. Her father, Seerkazhi J. Skandaprasad, is a renowned Mridangam virtuoso, and her paternal grandfather, Kalaimamani Seerkazhi R. Jayaraman, was a celebrated musician. Immersed in the world of classical arts from a young age, Sivasri has carved a niche for herself as both a Carnatic vocalist and a Bharatanatyam dancer.
Sivasri's academic journey is as impressive as her artistic endeavors. She holds a Bachelor of Technology degree in Bioengineering from SASTRA University, Thanjavur. Furthering her passion for dance, she pursued a Master’s degree in Bharatanatyam from the University of Madras. Additionally, she has undertaken studies in Sanskrit and completed a certification course in Ayurvedic cosmetology.
Carnatic Musician: She has performed extensively, captivating audiences with her soulful renditions. Her expertise led her to represent India on international platforms, including cultural performances in Denmark (2018) and the Republic of Korea (2019) under the auspices of the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR).
Bharatanatyam Artiste: Trained under esteemed gurus, Sivasri has showcased her dance prowess in numerous prestigious events, both domestically and internationally. Her performances are noted for their technical precision and expressive depth.
Painter and Bhagavatha: Beyond music and dance, she is an accomplished painter and has engaged in 'Namasankeerthanam' and 'Katha Kutcheri', traditional forms of storytelling and devotional singing.
Sivasri's dedication to the arts has earned her several accolades. Her association with the ICCR facilitated her participation in cultural diplomacy, representing India's rich artistic heritage abroad.
Sivasri gained national recognition when Prime Minister Narendra Modi acknowledged her rendition of Lord Ram’s devotional hymn on social media, appreciating her efforts in preserving India’s cultural heritage.
