USA Artistic Swimming Team Wows with 'Taal Se Taal' Performance at Paris Olympics 2024

Just days after an old video of the US artistic swimming team performing to AR Rahman's musical theme of his hit track "Taal Se Taal" at the World Aquatics Doha 2024 went viral, a similar moment captured attention at the Paris Olympics 2024.

The USA's women's artistic swimming team wowed the crowd with a stunning performance set to the same Bollywood classic. Their routine perfectly synchronised to the catchy tunes of this hit track composed by AR Rahman, which featured in the 1999 movie Taal, directed by Subhash Ghai.

The video of the swimming team’s performance was recently shared by the official YouTube page of the Olympics on Aug 7, 2024.

The video was captioned, “The USA artistic swimming team performed their free routine set to the Bollywood hit song 'Taal Se Taal.”

Since being shared, the video has garnered over 1.2 million views and over 29K likes.

The US women’s artistic swimming team had earlier performed a similar routine to the music of Taal at the World Aquatics Doha 2024 in February. The video of their performance had gone viral on the internet on that occasion, prompting a reaction from Ghai.

“RARELY IT HAPPENS WHEN A HINDI FILM THEME MUSIC LIKE TAAL’ BECOMES ICONIC It was seen At world Aquatics DOHA 2024 which inspired USA ARTISTIC SWIMMING TEAM to display their unique performance on music of TAAL I feel blessed .. thank you all,” the filmmaker had written on X after sharing the video.

A.R. Rahman had also shared the video on Instagram.

Featuring Aishwarya Rai, Akshaye Khanna and Anil Kapoor in the lead roles, Taal premiered at the Chicago International Film Festival on August 13, 1999. While Rahman composed the soundtrack, the lyrics were written by Anand Bakshi. The soundtrack achieved massive commercial success, selling four million units, making it the best-selling album of the year.
