Every other day, dance reels and videos of couples kissing while travelling in the Delhi Metro storm the internet. After a series of such objectionable videos surfaced online, along with some other inappropriate incidents in coaches, the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) said it has plans to deploy police in both uniforms and civil clothes.

Moreover, it also has plans to scan the footage of CCTV cameras installed inside the Metro Coaches more frequently to identify objectionable behaviour of the passengers causing inconvenience to co-passengers.

While DMRC is in the process of increasing security and surveillance, it has instructed the flying squads to keep a tab on such activities.

The move comes after a video surfaced on social media in which a man was allegedly masturbating in a Metro coach. After the video came to light, the Delhi Commission for Women issued a notice to the city police and sought action against the man.

While DMRC has reportedly initiated steps to curb objectionable behaviour on Delhi Metro, such a move has received mixed reactions from netizens.

On Monday, filmmaker Vivek Agnihotri shared a picture on Twitter that reads: No more dance or reels or kissing: Cops will now patrol in metro trains to check ‘objectionable’ behaviour in Delhi. They will even be deployed in civilian clothes to keep a check.

‘The Kashmir Files’ helmer shared the picture with a note reading: This is so so so stupid.(sic)

Sharing their opinions in the comment box, several users hailed the move while some others seem to be not so happy.

One user wrote, “Very good decision a bit tad harsh, but must needed to stop the pandemic.” (sic)

Another user wrote, “Metro is usually used to commute. Every other activity has their respective spaces. Good step.” (sic)

“Good decision, people wanting to make kiss reel in metro should better directly audition for b grade movies,” wrote a third user. (sic)

“Travel in the delhi metro to realise what crap is goong on in there,” wrote another. (sic)
