The countdown for the 71st edition of the prestigious beauty pageant Miss Universe has begun. A total of 84 contestants from around the world are representing their countries. This time, Divita Rai from Karnataka is representing India.
When it comes to international beauty pageants, Indian women have always carved a special place for themselves. They beautifully bring out India’s cultural aspect with their costume on the global platform.
The recent one being adored for her costume is Divita Rai who turned into ‘Sone Ki Chidiya’ (golden bird) for the National Costume round.
With the mega beauty pageant all set to be held on January 14, let’s know more about Divita and her personal life.
Born in Mangalore, she has lived in many parts of the country due to her father’s transferable profession.
Divita is an architect and a model by profession. Besides, she loves to play basketball and badminton in her leisure time. Painting, reading and listening to music are her favourite pastime.
The 25-year-old model has a good fan base on Instagram. She has a total of 71K followers on Instagram.
Divita completed her education at National Public School, Bangalore before she enrolled in the Sir JJ College of Architecture in Mumbai.
She was placed among the top three Karnataka finalists competing to advance to Femina Miss India in 2019.
Also, she participated in Miss Diva 2021 and bagged second place to Harnaaz Kaur Sandhu. She had won the titles of Miss IQ, Miss Lifestyle and Miss Sudoku during the competition too.
She was crowned Miss Universe India on August 28, 2022, in Mumbai by outgoing Miss Universe India and Miss Universe 2021 Harnaaz Sandhu.
The opulent golden outfit titled ‘sone ki chidiya’ was worn by Divita for the National Costume round in the pageant. Her costume was designed by Abhishek Sharma.
The outfit depicted India as ‘the golden bird’, a symbol of the wealth and cultural heritage of India.
She has earned appreciation and praise from around the globe for her magnificent outfit.
For Divita, her parents are constant source of inspiration. She is keen towards making education accessible to everyone.
