They right-swipe on boys and call them for dates in luxurious cafes. Later, the girls escape on some pretext after the bill comes to up to Rs 1Lakh, leaving the boy to pay all the bills. Several men have become victims to the fraud ‘dates’.

The latest example of this exploitative scheme comes from ‘The Godfather Club’ in Mumbai’s Andheri West. A young girl with a beautiful DP matched with a boy and brought him to the café. She then ordered expensive items such as high-end liquor, hookah and other such things.

In such a situation, the man on the date, eager to impress the girl, is unaware of the trap. The woman then cites an emergency and escapes, leaving the men to face the bill. When the man protest, then the café and club staff or bouncers threaten them to settle the bill. Not just normal men, recently a civil service aspirant was conned of Rs 1.2L during such a ‘scam date’.

This scam is not just limited to Mumbai, but has a broader network in nightclubs, pubs, beer bars in and around Delhi, Pune, Noida and Gurugram. These clubs reportedly hire the women to bait men on dating apps, luring them into the bars and pubs.

Similar incidents have also been reported from Hyderabad and Bengaluru, among others.
