Man dies after using YouTube remedy to treat toothache

In a shocking incident, a 26-year-old Jharkhand man died after he tried a YouTube remedy to treat his toothache.

According to a TOI report, the man identified as Ajay Mahto, died after allegedly consuming excessive Kaner (oleander) seeds after he watched YouTube videos related to recommendations on how it can relieve severe toothache.

Mahto reportedly followed these remedies from YouTube videos and consumed a large number of oleander seeds. Following the consumption, his health deteriorated and he was rushed to Bishnugarh community health centre in Hazaribag where he was declared dead upon his arrival.

Nunuchand Mahto, father of Ajay informed doctors that his son consumed kaner seeds after watching YouTube videos to treat his toothache post which he fell ill, TOI reported.

Mahto said that his son was staying at a hotel in the city where he was studying for his exams. He had experienced toothache a week ago. After which instead of consulting a doctor he opted to eat kaner seeds which were recommended on many YouTube videos.

Meanwhile, Hazaribag civil surgeon S P Singh said that the spices are highly dangerous and could be life-threatening.

"Kaner seeds are highly dangerous and could be life-threatening. The youth died on the way to the hospital," he was quoted saying.
