grenade attack
A man from Thailand died in a grenade explosion while trying to kill his ex-girlfriend. The 35-year-old man died in the blast while he intended to kill his ex-girlfriend. The incident, which occurred in the Tha Chana district of Thailand, has left four people injured and raised concerns about possible drug associations.
The man, identified as Surapong Thongnak, reportedly went to his former partner's residence in an effort to reconcile with her after their break-up. When his attempts were rebuffed, things took a violent turn. In a fit of rage, Surapong allegedly attacked the woman with scissors.
Surapong later went to his car and retrieved an M26 fragmentation grenade that he had kept in his vehicle. In a highly charged moment, he pulled the pin and threw it towards his ex-girlfriend and her residence.
As it failed to explode initially, Surapong attempted another throw, but the grenade detonated, resulting in fatal injuries to himself, which led to his death. Meanwhile, four others have been injured in the explosion.
The victim's ex-girlfriend managed to escape unhurt as she had retreated to safety. The incident has left the entire area dealing with the aftermath of the event and the injuries of the four individuals who were hospitalised, shaken.
Police responding to the scene discovered a large quantity of methamphetamine in Surapong's vehicle, prompting suspicions about potential drug influence in the incident. Surapong was previously convicted on drug-related charges five years before this tragic event.
