‘Jab We Met’ in real life
Love, heartbreak, and an unexpected twist- this real-life drama from Indore, Madhya Pradesh, feels like it’s straight out of a Bollywood script. What began as a young woman’s plan to elope with her boyfriend quickly turned into a story of chance meetings, impulsive decisions, and an unplanned wedding, all playing out against the backdrop of a train journey reminiscent of the iconic 2007 film Jab We Met.
According to reports, Shraddha Tiwari left her home on August 23 with plans to marry her boyfriend, Sarthak. However, when she arrived at the station, she was stunned to learn that Sarthak had changed his mind and refused to marry her. Heartbroken, Shraddha boarded a train, unsure of where to go next, until she found herself in Ratlam, the very town immortalised by the Bollywood classic.
At the station, Shraddha met Karandeep, an electrician from a college in Indore. Concerned for her safety, Karandeep advised her to return home and talk to her parents. But Shraddha, determined not to return unmarried, stood her ground. Seeing her resolve, Karandeep surprised her with a marriage proposal and she said yes.
The two travelled to Maheshwar-Mandleshwar, where they tied the knot, before heading to Mandsaur and then to the Sanwariya Seth temple to seek blessings. Days later, Shraddha walked into an Indore police station and calmly announced her marriage.
While Shraddha claims the wedding is legitimate, the police remain cautious and have asked her to present a marriage certificate to validate her story.
Sometimes, reality truly is stranger than fiction.
