Known for its varied culture and lifestyle, the center of high-tech industry, Bengaluru is known as the IT Hub of India. It is the dream of many job aspirants to move to the beautiful city and find a suitable job there.
While the Silicon Valley of India opens the door to a lot of job opportunities, it can be pretty expensive to live there. Apart from its park and nightlife, Bengaluru is also known for its expensive rents and traffic congestion.
People earning in lakhs are also worried about the apartment and building rents in the city. Meanwhile, a woman has sparked a debate on the living expenses in Bengaluru after she asked if Rs 40k monthly salary is enough to survive in the IT Hub.
With reports of tenants allegedly demanding over Rs 1L as advance for house rent, any person would become sceptical before moving to the beautiful city. The same is the case of this woman who is feeling jittery as she is about to move there with her mother.
Social media users understood her situation and flooded the comments section with suggestions after her story went viral.
“Initially, you might find housing being your largest expense, considering that you might have to pay a deposit, but you might try negotiating to reduce it. Monthly, you might need to reserve about 35-40% of your earnings towards it. All in all, it may be a little tough in the beginning but will get easier,” suggested a user.
Another user wrote, “Hi There, when I moved to Bangalore, my take home was 42k in 2019. If you are outside city and manage to find a 1BHK under 14k, you can very much live for 26k.”
A third user wrote, “My pay was considerably lower than yours. So you're good to go. It all depends on tiny financial choices & how we want to live.”
“It's moderately easy to go from 40k to 1 lpa pm. My gf also earns just above 40k pm. I've decided to devote some time to help her change jobs. You can join in too, please DM me. If you're true to your commitment with interview prep, within 6 months you'll definitely earn a lot more,” commented another user.
