Amit Kumar with his students in a school
Meet this young man Amit Kumar who has set an example for many others in his age group. He works both as a physical education teacher (PET) in a school during the day and as a delivery boy after the fall of night for a prominent food-delivery company.
The young man is a native of Bhagalpur locality of neighbouring Bihar.
Amit Kumar, the elderly son and lone earning member in his family, is married and meets his household expenses by simultaneously working in diverse fields.
He was left with no other choice after he had lost his temporary job following the Covid-19 pandemic outbreak. Life had become miserable for him to support his family.
Subsequently, Amit Kumar started imparting physical education to young boys and girls in a nearby government-run school. However, his little earnings did not suffice his needs. He had to manage the family expenses with his limited financial standing.
One day, Amit Kumar’s wife suggested him also to work as a delivery boy and earn something extra, so that they could live happily. Accepting the new challenge, the young man delivered food to customers every day, after returning from his school at around 4 PM.
Amit Kumar used to rest a while and have a little bit of snacks before starting for his second assignment. He returns home late at night, mostly when his family is asleep.
“I had appeared in an eligibility test in November 2019 and the exam results were published in February but there was no mention of my salary. I was very hopeful to join the new job when Covid-19 broke out and the appointment was stopped,” Amit Kumar stated.
“Nearly after two and a half years, I was asked to join but as a part-time employee with a salary of only Rs 8,000, which was not sufficient. However, I am able to manage my family by working hard from dawn to dusk,” the young man gleamed.
