In an extraordinary tale of romance and resilience, 36-year-old Luke Wintrip finally married his long-time partner Sarah after proposing to her an astonishing 43 times over seven years.
Their story, which unfolded across continents and countless heartfelt gestures, is now winning hearts online with many saying he deserves a Guinness World Record for determination.
Luke, who had been asking for Sarah’s hand since 2018, never let rejection dampen his spirit. From hiring out a castle in Prague to proposing on horseback along a Jamaican beach, he made every attempt special. But Sarah, a 38-year-old marketing CEO and mother-of-three, wasn’t ready not yet.
“I loved him, but we’d only been together six months,” she recalled of the very first proposal. “I didn’t want to say yes to something I’d later regret.”
It wasn’t until proposal number 42 that Sarah hinted her heart had changed: “Next time you ask, I’m going to say yes.” And Luke didn’t miss his moment.
Choosing Greenwich, the home of Greenwich Mean Time for his final proposal, he told her: “This is the centre of the world, and you are the centre of mine.” That poetic touch sealed the deal.
In May this year, the couple finally tied the knot in a sun-kissed Jamaican wedding, proving that love when paired with a little patience and a lot of persistence truly conquers all.
