Recently, Chief Justice of India (CJI) DY Chandrachud stated that climate change can no longer be ignored and stressed on the need to embrace a green lifestyle. The events that caused his response were the two heat waves and the recent record-breaking rain In Delhi that submerged the national capital.

Climate change is manifesting its dangerous side through heat waves and sudden floods that no one has ever seen before. In one generation, we are seeing this hazardous effect of climate change and no one knows what it will lead to in future.

According to CNN, in a peculiar case in Greece, hikers are disappearing in the mountains amid the intense hot weather in the country. And, the scientists believe that the culprit might be the extreme heat.

They say extreme heat can play with your mind, disrupting your brain functions and thus losing the sense of making decisions, engaging in impulsive behaviour, or making risky decisions.

In a study published on CNN, temperatures above 40 degrees Celsius cause a drop in blood flow to the brain by 9-10% leading to disturbances in the brain network including a drop in thinking clearly, reasoning, remembering, and constructing and formulating ideas.

This makes it harder to make complex decisions, like which path to take while hiking.

Forget about feeling warm, slow, and getting sunburned in hot weather, we are here open to life-threatening situations, where we have poor decision-making skills and judgment clouded.

In Delhi, where the temperature is about to cross 50 degrees Celsius, can you guess the future possibilities of danger in the coming years?

Apart from the heat wave, another issue is emerging as flood, which is caused by the sudden outburst of rain; not only in India but a similar pattern is seen worldwide. Apart from that, landslides and storms are also becoming major concerns.

Summing up all the calamities, it can be said that the time has come to take the climate change issue seriously and it also needs to be on the agenda of every government across the globe.
