Bihar trends on X as FM Sitharaman makes big announcements for the state in Budget 2025

Bihar has been trending on X (formerly known as Twitter) after Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman made big announcements for the state. Apart from an increase in IIT seats in IIT Patna, the FM also announced the setting up of the Makhana Board in Bihar.

“A Makhana Board will be established in the state to improve production, processing, value addition and marketing of Makhana,” said Nirmala Sitharaman.

“The board will provide hand-holding and training support to Makhana farmers and ensure that they receive benefits of all government schemes,” she added.

For the unversed, Makhana also known as fox nuts or lotus seeds, is a popular snack and ingredient.

Moreover, with the Bihar assembly elections due this year in October-November, Nirmala Sitharaman turned up in Parliament donning a Madhubani saree, designed by an artist from Bihar.

This apart, the Budget also announced setting up airports, medical colleges and sports infrastructures in Bihar. To promote tourism, the finance minister also announced major plans for the state.
