What could be the monthly earnings of a rider using ride-hailing services like Rapido and Uber? Well, what if it is Rs 80000 to Rs 85000? Sounds shocking, isn't it! Recently, a video of a Bengaluru-based rider stormed the internet in which he claimed earning Rs 85000- Rs 80000 monthly by using ride-hailing service Uber.

In the viral video, the rider is seen explaining about his impressive income by working up to 13 hours a day on Uber.

The short clip shows the conversation between the rider and an individual. The revelations about the rider's earnings left the individual shocked. 

The rider says, "Every month I earn Rs 80000-85000." (sic)

When the individual, who is recording the video, inquires if his earnings are from Rapido, the rider clarifies that it is from Uber. 

Further, he explains that he works for 13 hours a day and people will certainly laugh after learning about it.

"If we give time to work then it gives money," he added.

Meanwhile, the individual says, "Itna toh hum nahi kamate bhaiya (Even we don't earn that much brother). (sic)

To this, the rider responds, "No no, salary is not given by the company. I work for 13 hours a day. I work on my own and there's nobody to tell me. Whenever... I stop now, go and sleep." (sic) 

While the origin of the video couldn't be verified, it is shared on X by Karnataka Portfolio. The video has left netizens shocked including Paytm founder Vijay Shekhar Sharma.

Sharing the video, Sharma praised India's gig economy and wrote, "India’s new-age technology firms have sparked a revolution in job creation at scale, generating crores of well-paying jobs that fuel our local economy. These colleagues are building a digital services ecosystem that the world admires—quick deliveries, local rides, and Paytm QR at every corner." (sic)

Further, he wrote, "Proud of every member of Indian Digital Services, who works relentlessly and takes pride in their work. (Yes, I prefer to call them members of Indian Digital Services instead of gig workers)." (sic)

He concluded his long post by writing, "Together, we’re shaping a more inclusive, innovative, and proud Digital India. हम हैं नए, तो अंदाज़ क्यों हो पुराना." (sic)

Well, the viral post has left the internet divided. While a section of netizens praised the rider's effort and hard work, others questioned the authenticity of the claims.
