A ragpicker found a bag containing 23 bundles of US dollars in a pile of garbage that is worth Rs 25 crore.

The ragpicker has been identified as Salman Sheikh from Bengaluru.

Salman found the bag containing the currency notes and kept it with him for some days.

Later, he took the bundle and handed it over to his boss. After verifying the currency notes, Salman’s boss then contacted social activist Kali Mullah, who in turn, contacted the police Commissioner.

The notes were then seized and sent to the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) to verify its authenticity. After proper probe, it will be known if the currency notes are fake or real.

The notes were laced with chemicals and police suspect it to be the handiwork of gangs engaged in Black Dollar Scam.

Bengaluru’s Hebbal Police station has been tasked with investigating the case.
