While a cross-continent road trip may seem a daunting task, for this motoring enthusiast from Ludhiana, it is a lifetime of adventure summed into just 53 days.

Meet Lakhwinder Singh (53) who drove his Toyota Tacoma pickup truck from the USA to India and the adventurous journey was completed in just 53 days.

Although Singh faced many challenges that would make any daredevil sweat profusely, the professional adventurer did not give up on his quest and kept on the route back to his home in Jalandhar.

Moreover, Singh did not take up any sponsorship to fund his trip rather used his own dime to complete it. Singh spent over Rs 1 crore of his own money on the road trip.

As per reports, the 53-year-old driver set out from his home in Sacramento, California, and covered 22,000 km and 23 countries.

During his journey, Singh paid four fines for over-speeding, including one in Serbia, two in Turkey and one in Pakistan. He also paid for fuel expenses by swiping his credit card at all stations. It took him three years to execute the plan. Obtaining visas for Iran and Pakistan was among the most arduous procedures and involved a lot of time.

Once he decided to begin the journey, Singh ferried his truck across the Atlantic to UK, and began driving from there crossing Paris, Germany, Switzerland, Austria, Hungary, Turkey, Iran and Pakistan to arrive in Punjab in India.

In a YouTube video uploaded by ‘Ride and Drive’, Singh shared his detailed experience of driving from the USA to India in his white-coloured Toyota Tacoma. The rugged vehicle, sold by Toyota in the USA for $60,000, was his vehicle of choice. He also explained the physical and mental challenges he faced while obtaining permits and visas for entry into different countries.

In the video, Singh also described his experiences while driving on the roads of different countries. He mentioned that the roads in European countries, including the famous Autobahn in Germany, were the smoothest and best to drive on. Despite the challenges he faced, Lakhwinder Singh successfully completed his cross-continent road trip, which was a truly remarkable and an inspiring accomplishment.
