A viral screenshot of a woman receiving unwanted texts from an Uber cab driver has sparked debate online. The Uber driver can be trying to flirt with the customer who had booked his cab a few days back.

“Friendship Karna Chahta hoon,” reads the message of the Uber driver who continuously sends messages to the woman even if she seems bothered.

Taking to her X, formerly known as Twitter, the woman identified as Bhumika shared her story and wrote, “Hello @Uber_India  Support Team, I am writing to express my serious concern regarding a recent experience I had with one of your driver. On 19/10/2023, I encountered a distressing situation where I received inappropriate messages from one of your drivers after a ride.”

“This incident has not only left me feeling uncomfortable but has also raised serious security and safety concerns. I strongly believe that Uber should be a platform where customers, especially women, can trust the drivers and the overall experience. This incident has shaken that trust, and I am deeply concerned about the safety of female passengers who rely on Uber for transportation."

“I kindly request that you take immediate and decisive action to investigate this matter, identify the driver involved, and take appropriate measures to ensure such incidents do not occur in the future,” she further added.

Bhumika’s experience has sparked debate online on the safety of women in India.

“WTF. This is creepy. That’s why I don’t prefer UPI payments directly to them. Either pay cash, which is rare or credit card later,” shared an X user.

Another user wrote, “This is weird and unacceptable.”

“This is scary as the driver knows your phone number and address and we don’t know anything about them. And we need to depend on Uber. Not safe at all,” commented a third person.
