If you are planning a trip to Bhubaneswar, one thing is sure that the Temple City wouldn’t let you down. It has a smorgasbord of tourist destinations, shopping and amusement centres to make your stay worthwhile.

It being the capital city of Odisha, it is well connected by air, rail and road. The distance between the Biju Patnaik International Airport and the railway station is just 2.8 kilometres. And Baramunda bus stand is around 4 kilometres from the airport and 7 kilometres from the railway station.

Once you are here in the Temple City, you start to feel having been embraced by this beautiful city.

Your visit to Bhubaneswar wouldn’t be complete if Lingaraj temple is not a part of your itinerary.

If you are a spiritual person, Lingaraj temple will be the perfect choice to visit the shrine. And if temple architectural marvels attract you, this temple will again be the perfect place to start with.

Before visiting this shrine, you have to keep few things in mind. This 11th-century Shaivite shrine is 3 and 5 kilometres away from the airport and railway station respectively. And it is half a kilometer and 5 kilometre away from the Bhubaneswar-Puri main road and the main bus stand (Baramunda) respectively. To reach this temple, there are government-run City Buses besides round the clock auto rickshaw service. You can also hire taxis.

This shrine remains open all days from 5 am to 9 pm.

After offering prayer at the shrine, you can go to several places within one or two kilometres radius. The most prominent ones are Bindu Sagar, a tank and Botanical Garden on its bank. Apart from these, there are several century-old temples around Lingaraj temple like Mukteswar temple, Kedar Gouri temple and Ananta Basudev temple you can visit.

You can taste some local cuisines at restaurants and eateries here. You can also relish the prasad comprising an array of delicacies at Lingaraj temple and Ananta Basudev temple.
