YouTube is one of the most downloaded entertainment apps with 154 million downloads worldwide.
According to Statista, the platform has more than 2 billion monthly logged-in users from over 100 countries who access content in 80 languages.
The online video sharing and social media platform has many features. One of the features is the ability to play videos with the screen turned off.
With a YouTube Premium subscription, users can play videos in the background and even minimise the app without interrupting playback.
There are two ways to play videos with the screen turned off:
1.Play YouTube videos in the background via Premium subscription:
Open the YouTube app on your Android or iOS smartphone, play a video that you like, and turn off the screen.
The video will continue playing, and you can even minimise the app.
2.Play YouTube videos in the background without a Premium subscription:
Open YouTube on your smartphone and play any video that you want to stream on the background.
This feature is only available on Android 12 OS or the higher and the latest UI version model. After playing the video, just swipe as you designed your mobile floating windows, then click on the "Background Stream".
Then the video will play in your background. To get a seamless experience, it is recommended that users purchase a YouTube Premium subscription, or they can upgrade their smartphone version.
