The Meta-owned WhatsApp application has been continuously adding several new features, including enhanced security measures to protect user data.

These features include the ability to silence incoming calls from unknown numbers, a chat lock, and end-to-end encryption, among others.

According to a report from WABetaInfo, the WhatsApp developers are currently testing a new safety tool aimed at helping users stay secure when they receive messages from unknown numbers.

Just like when you receive a call from an unknown number on your smartphone, and it shows that the number is unknown, asking if it seems suspicious, WhatsApp is also introducing a similar feature for user safety.

When a user receives a message from an unknown number, a pop-up will appear, explaining that it could be suspicious or spam.

In this pop-up, users will have the option to block and report the contact, as stated in the report.

Currently, this safety feature is only available to WhatsApp Beta users for Android version 2.23.16.6.

However, WABetaInfo claims that this feature will be rolled out to more users in the upcoming weeks.

So, those who are not Beta users will have to wait a bit longer before they can access this feature on their devices.
