WhatsApp recently rolled out a new functionality called Chat Lock, which enables users to safeguard their private conversations.

While this feature ensures enhanced privacy, it is important to note a potential vulnerability that users should be mindful of

Nevertheless, there exists a straightforward remedy to bolster security by activating the fingerprint lock feature within the application.

Chat Lock

By incorporating WhatsApp's Chat Lock feature, you gain the ability to apply a protective barrier to your confidential conversations.

This functionality ensures that, even in situations where you lend your phone to someone else, the contents of your private chats remain inaccessible.

Notably, this feature goes a step further by automatically concealing chat details in notifications, thereby preserving your privacy.

However, it is imperative to bear in mind the necessity of closing the Chat Lock folder prior to exiting the application to prevent unauthorised individuals from accessing your chat history.

Loophole in Chat Lock

If you keep the Chat Lock folder open and forget to close the window, anyone who opens your WhatsApp will be able to see your private chats.

So, if you make use of the Chat Lock feature, make sure to close the folder before closing the WhatsApp app.

Additionally, even if you close your phone, the messaging app doesn't add an extra layer of security.

This could be a bug or a loophole, which the messaging platform can fix by releasing an update.

Unfortunately, it's unknown when this will happen.

To ensure the safety of your private chats, it is crucial that you never open the Chat Lock folder and avoid giving access to anyone, especially unknown individuals.

If you decide to share your WhatsApp with someone, remember not to open the locked chat folder to keep your conversations secure.
