Instagram may soon extend Reels to 10 minutes in response to evolving market trends
The Instagram platform for sharing photos and videos is introducing many new features. They are reportedly planning to extend the time limit for Reels- their short video feature from 3 minutes to 10 minutes.
Alessandro Paluzzi, a mobile developer, shared a screenshot showing this change on X. TikTok, a competing app, also allows 10-minute videos after its ban in India.
This suggests that Instagram is aiming to match TikTok's video duration. This trend of expanding beyond their original features is happening across social media platforms.
Meta, the company that owns Instagram, confirmed that the screenshot shared by Alessandro Paluzzi is from an internal prototype. However, Instagram has not mentioned when this change will be available to everyone.
In addition to this, Instagram has introduced a new feature similar to Telegram Channels, where individuals can create Broadcast channels to share information.
People who join these channels can react to and read the messages posted there.
This reflects the ongoing changes in various platforms as they adapt to the evolving internet market.
