How to tag people in WhatsApp status? Know here
WhatsApp is continually adding new features to improve the platform. It is set to introduce a new feature that allows users to mention others in their status updates.
This update will be private, meaning only the person uploading the status and the mentioned users will be able to see it.
The functionality is expected to work like Instagram Stories, where the mentioned user receives a notification.
According to WABetaInfo, this feature was spotted in the WhatsApp beta version 2.24.20.3 for Android. An image from WABetaInfo indicates that this new option is specifically for status updates.
Currently, users cannot tag others in their statuses, but with this upgrade, they will be able to mention their saved contacts. The feature is labeled as “mentions” in the screenshot.
Previously, users could only share their status with specific contacts, which often went unnoticed. Now, you can receive notifications when someone mentions you in their status.
Go to the ‘Updates’ page.
Tap the camera icon to take a photo or choose one from your gallery.
In the ‘add caption…’ box, tap the ‘@’ icon on the right.
Select the contacts you want to tag by searching for their names.
Click to confirm, and your status will be uploaded successfully.
Note: You can mention up to 5 people in your status.
