With this upgrade, the Aadhaar number will be included in the e-KYC procedure for the UPI onboarding experience in the PhonePe App.
Previously, in the UPI onboarding flow, it was required to give a debit card to set up a user's UPI PIN for the PhonePe app registration procedure. People who did not have their debit cards with them were denied entrance. The Aadhar-based e-KYC flow has now streamlined the registration onboarding procedure.

PhonePay users can begin the onboarding process by selecting the Aadhaar card option on the PhonePe app and entering the last six digits of their Aadhaar card.

If you are a PhonePe customer and wish to enable UPI in the app using Aadhaar, follow these steps:

How to Use Aadhaar to Activate PhonePe UPI

Step 1: Launch the PhonePe app on your iPhone or Android device.

Step 2: Now, on the PhonePe app, navigate to the Profile Page.

Step 3: Select the Add Bank Account option from the Payment Instruments menu.

Step 4: Next, pick the bank and the bank, and then use OTP authentication to authenticate the associated mobile phone.

Following that, PhonePe will collect your bank account information and link it to UPI.

Step 5: Proceed to the area where you must configure the UPI. You will be offered the option of using a Debit Card or an Aadhaar Card. Choose Aadhaar Card.

Step 6: Enter your Aadhaar number's last six digits.

Following this, an OTP will be given to your registered cellphone number.

Step 7: Enter the OTP that was sent to your registered cellphone number and then create the UPI PIN.
