How to activate PhonePe UPI with Aadhaar, a step-by-step guide

PhonePe, a popular digital payments company, has unveiled a new feature that would allow customers to activate UPI using an Aadhaar-based verification mechanism. PhonePe claimed at the time of its introduction that it was the first Third Party Application Provider (TPAP) in the country to bring out an Aadhaar-based UPI activation system. Previously, PhonePe customers had to enter their debit card information into the app to activate the PhonePe UPI.

With this upgrade, the Aadhaar number will be included in the e-KYC procedure for the UPI onboarding experience in the PhonePe App.
Previously, in the UPI onboarding flow, it was required to give a debit card to set up a user's UPI PIN for the PhonePe app registration procedure. People who did not have their debit cards with them were denied entrance. The Aadhar-based e-KYC flow has now streamlined the registration onboarding procedure.
