Google I/O 2023 unveiled 'Help Me Write,' a game-changing AI-powered tool for Gmail and Google Docs.

It revolutionises writing by providing valuable assistance in composing emails and documents.

Writing Assistant

According to a report from 9to5Google, the AI-powered "Help Me Write" feature has started its rollout to testers in the Google Workspace Labs program, available for both Gmail on Android and iOS.

This marks an expansion from its initial availability only to desktop users during the Workspace Labs testing phase.

Users can now enjoy the convenience of this feature on their mobile devices as well.

To access the 'Help Me Write' feature in Gmail, testers can tap the compose button on their iOS or Android device and find it located at the bottom right side of the screen.

Once prompted with a request, the AI generates a draft that users can further modify and edit before sending it.

Interactivity

The 'Help Me Write' feature offers users the intriguing ability to provide feedback on the generated text.

Users can also choose to create a new version of the text by selecting the "Recreate" option, giving them greater customisation and control over the final result.

This interactive approach allows users to actively engage in the writing process, transforming it into a collaborative experience that combines human input with AI assistance.

Future Developments

In addition to being available for Gmail, Google has announced plans to introduce the 'Help Me Write' feature in Google Docs, although the exact timeline for this rollout has not been disclosed.

This integration will enhance the writing experience for users across multiple Google platforms.

At Google I/O 2023, other AI-powered enhancements were showcased, including the upcoming Magic Editor tool for Google Photos.

This tool allows users to enhance and edit images, adding missing details and adjusting subjects' positions even after capturing the image.

The Magic Editor aims to offer users increased flexibility and creativity in their photo editing endeavours.
