Are stolen iPhone 15 models in Philadelphia locked or tracked? Here's what happens

The iPhone 15 Series was launched globally on September 12, and it caused quite a buzz.

People were flocking to Apple stores to get their hands on these high-end smartphones.

In Philadelphia, there was an incident where some individuals looted the store, taking shiny new iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Pro models that were on display.

This incident was widely shared on social media platform X.

However, there is a twist to this story. The stolen iPhones will not work once they are taken out of the store.

This is because the company designed them to stop functioning as soon as they leave the store's premises.

Additionally, these iPhones have location tracking enabled, so the police can easily locate the thieves once they are outside the store.

In the video circulating on social media, you can see a group of young people shouting "Free iPhones!" while looting the Apple Walnut store in Philadelphia.

As the iPhones they stole were just demo models with a special operating system.

So, once they left the store, these stolen iPhones became useless.
