Kavya Maran’s Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) decimated Mumbai Indians (MI) to score the highest total in IPL history before registering a 31-run victory in a power-hitting contest at Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium.

SRH’s Travis Head, Abhishek Sharma, and Klassen left MI bowlers befuddled. India’s budding star Abhishek Sharma was among the batters who shone in the match. He scored an impressive 63 runs off just 23 balls with 3 fours and 7 massive sixes.

He created a record by scoring his half-century in just 16 balls which is now the fastest by any SRH batter in IPL history. Despite his terrific performance, former Indian star Yuvraj Singh and mentor of Abhishek Sharma seem not very impressed.

The veteran player blasted Abhishek for the way he was dismissed. Taking to his Twitter handle, Yuvraj wrote, “Waah sir Abhishek waah 👏🏻 great innings but what a splendid shot to get out on! Laaton ke bhoot baaton se nahi maante! Special 🩴 waiting for you now @IamAbhiSharma4.

“Great knock by Klassy #Klaasen! #SRHvMI #IPL2024,” Yuvraj added.

Abhishek pulled a quick short ball from Piyush Chawal in the air before Naman Dhir completed the catch at deep mid-wicket.

After getting the Man of the Match award, Sharma said, “To be honest I didn’t realise that it was the fastest 50 for SRH and for this year. I just wanted to go and express myself after getting out I realised that it was the quickest. I enjoyed it.”

“The message was pretty much simple for all the batters in the meeting we had before this match. Everyone just go and express yourself, that’s a very positive message if you get it from your captain and coach. That’s really supportive for all the batters,” he added.
